Hanging Plots and Dangling Threads

As luck would have it, I've found some of my old notes from XET I.
In that spreadsheet was a roster listing (which now needs to be updated).
As well, I had a list of plotlines.

Here they are some that could apply to XETT:

1) Whatever has become of Monet's comatose body?

2) Where is Rachel Summers?

3) Dream a little dream of me - Who is the Dreamland entity after the Scoobies and what is its plan?

4) Weapon X has genetic material from PCs to make babies with.

5) Where is Adam Warlock, Is his Father still alive and what of his siblings?

I know we're still searching for a BIG BANG re-opening TP. I'm still working on that....

1. Last I remember, her body was in OMA custody, probably at a private clinic somewhere?

2. Muir Island. Kirk established that prior to close.

3. Ferguson, the Columbia Killer, made a pact with an unnamed power in the Dreamlands. Catseye/paw was involved, which means it was likely Selene.

4. They do. And who knows what they've come up with. Teleporting babies with copper wings

5. No idea. Adam?

Private clinc somewhere run by someone like Sinny?

Hmm...possibly a new plotline for the Misfits.
I can't see this getting larger than that at the moment.
No reason to pull in Xers and BH on this one.

Can we make something of this? Do they have the ability to fast grow clones?
I didn't think so but I've been out of it for a while.

I think there is possible fodder here. I know Adam had some ideas about running a Magus based TP. This might be a way to get such a plot going without demonizing Adam specifically. I read in his BG that he has his 'siblings' were telempathically linked. The events of The Mist TP might have had a SAN damaging effect upon 1 or more of his family members and thus we wind up with a Magus. That's be a major TP that would pull in teh Xers, BH and others...

Kirk, Nat and I have all actually discussed various ideas for a Ferguson Strikes Back plot, but we never really settled on an idea to write up just yet.
Technically, I think I established the Rachel Summers thing just _after_ close, in my own little fanficcy type way. It still could be made fact, but it doesn't have to be. (I'd certainly like it to be, and Rachel herself could be lost in Daoloth until we actually get a player for her).
Weap X also has a certain primary regenerator's DNA. If you want to make fast growing clones, that might be a good place to start. I was kicking around something sentinal-esque based on this concept a while back. I stumbled across my notes thereon recently.

Erk. That was in the fall of 2000, wasn’t it? Man, I no longer remember what was the idea, but I think it involved a split personality ‘a la Marvel’ of the ‘Dave will kill me if I try’ variety. I was a n00b back then, I think I can do better.

I had planned to add some fluff to Warlock’s background regarding his creator and the origin of his alieness in the reapp I am wriging, but not to use it right now. I am open to ideas, though.

They can fast-growth clones. That is part of the Enclave (the branch that created Warlock) research they have recovered (or maybe they figured it out independently – no matter) although they do not grow very quick. I seem to remember they need about a year to make sure the clone has a fair chance to survive the accelerated growing as an adult (and it would be brainless, anyway). They already applied the research in Captain America, check Steve’s background. Most likely they are running more experiments in that direction, trying to come up with more safe super-soldiers. It is only a question of time before they start doing nutty stuff, you know how too much super-science tends to turn cool-headed human scientists into raving loons ;)

One of the ideas we discussed late in XET was putting a computer instead of a brain in the clone. That way the conspiracy would have a programmable super-soldier. You can even call that a Sentinel.
Or, eventually, things like Ultron, if we need to have an Ultimates threat.
Err, sorry, obviously Ultron wouldn't be a computer brain in a human body, but rather another application of computer brains and maybe prototype Sentinels.
Hmm....Do we want to do an XET-esque version of the Sentinels for our opening plot, or is it simply to soon to even attempt such a thing? I recall an old idea somehow linking Tony Stark to the Sentinel project as well.
My gut is it's too soon, but I'm not fundamentally opposed. I think if it is going to be an attack on the Brotherhood, then ideally it should probably be something that could be fought off eventually without lasting consequences - if, say, the Karotechia takes the base and is fought off, they might know where it is for future attacks, but if the Conspiracy takes the base, well, even if they're fought off the Brotherhood can never use it again, because they could use the full force of the Government to retake it. That's, of course, assuming that it's the Brotherhood _Base_ that's compromised, rather than just a safehouse or something.
I'm game with K crew hitting the BH (when did we start talking in code?). It makes sense to me in the odd, surreal way that such things can make sense. I'm up for some Neo-Nazi cultist mayhem. And it works into Dave's quote about them coming for the Xers next. :) A very plausible 'enemy of my enemy' senario. I can see X and Mags working together for the common good.
Yep. Maybe work in the Struckers as magically-enhanced K members as the leaders of that particular assault team.
There's a CoC spell where you graft someone else's skin on in place of your own, and that skin is extremely durable.

What if the strike team or whatever is made up of humans who have mutant-skingraphs that make them immune to certain types of powers? An initial strike team could hold out against the combat mutants, and when the telepaths rear their heads, bring out the telepathically immune.
Now that's an idea. Nazi's in skin armor lead by the magical enhanced Strucker twins. Plus anti-tepe tech to boot? I say that would send the Brother's running for cover.

Now remind me, didn't the K crew only run into the Xers? Guess I have to go back and re-read some of the old logs. Regardless...I like this idea. has a nice touch of continuity about it, which I'm always for.

What if they're not the full-fledged 'We're unleashing massive Sentinels to start openly exterminating mutants' sort of thing that we saw in Ultimate, but more like a combination of the two? The Conspiracy wants to eliminate the terrorist Brotherhood threat, so they create a team of supersoldier types in something called Project Sentinel and send them out to eliminate the Brotherhood. Then we can do the thing that was suggested where the Brotherhood has to evac in a hurry, and the Sentinels wind up in posession of information that could lead them to the X-Men? It wouldn't be all out public extermination, nor would it be big 50' purple and magenta robots with Death Rays, so maybe it could be more stealthy and conspiracy-like?

Or maybe I just woke up and am still too groggy for coherent thought.
You may have seen these before, they're dated Dec. 23, 2003, so they've been around a while, but here are my notes for sentinal technology, XET style. :)

Mark 0 Sentinels:
Numbers: 12 prototypes.

Detect Mutants
SilverStuff armor.
Brain/computer invasion.

Disadvantages: Normal human reflexes. Telepathically vulnerable. Incapable of functioning singly. Normal vulnerability to poison. External weaponry. No ability to pass as human. Obviously inhuman personality.

Mark 1 Sentinels:
Same Genome as Mark 0, except built on top of the ova of a primary regenerator to allow for much more rapid production, as well as regeneration. Better control of silverstuff allows exposure of bare skin, allowing the sentinel to pass as human (briefly).

Number: 32 initially, potentially hundreds. When the ova are gone, production will cease, but once the project is up to speed, more regenerator ova can probably be obtained.
Detect Mutants
SilverStuff Armor
Regeneration.
Brain/Computer invasion

Disadvantages: Normal human reflexes. Telepathically vulnerable. incapable of functioning singly. Normal vulnerability to poison. External weaponry. Obviously inhuman personality, but can better relate to human language (understands idiom, etc)

Mark 2 Sentinels:
Completely new genome. Mimetic X-factor (ala Synch), built on ova of primary regenerator. Human personality potential.
Number: ???
Detect Mutants
Brain invasion.
SilverStuff Armor
Mimetic X-Factor ‚they can copy and reproduce the abilities of almost any bio-compatible mutant (ie not Jono, not Spinner, not Mystique ‚a mutant must be generally human shaped with a human type biology). Copied ability will achieve no more than half the strength of the donor unless the donor is a primary regenerator.

Disadvantages: Too human ‚ can be turned against Sentinel project and assert individuality. Primary regenerator donors are toxic to Mk2 sentinels, causing them to essentially burn up regenerating.

Mark 3 Sentinels:
Upgrade of Mark 1 Sentinels after disastrous Mk2 model. Revised Mk1 Genome built on ova of primary regenerator. Excellent control of silverstuff allows passing as human as well as formation of monomolecular edged weapons. Near-human personality, capable of functioning independently or participating in the Sentinel hive-mind.

Detect Mutants
Brain/computer invasion.
Silverstuff Armor
Regeneration.
Kinetic Energy Blast
Kinetic Energy repulser flight.
